Jammu Region School Children Meet Home Minister

New Delhi:(Page3 News Network)-A group of 40 school children (20 Girls & 20 Boys) from remote and far flung areas of Jammu region called on Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Home Minister here, today. The
students, in the age group of 10 – 16 years, are on a Bharat Darshan Tour organized by the Border Security Force (BSF). As a part of the programme, students were taken to Ahmedabad, Bhuj, Bangalore, Mysore, Agra & Delhi. These children also visited places of historical and cultural importance in these cities.
Shri Arvind Ranjan, SPL DG BSF apprised the Home Minister of the composition of the group of children and also informed him that they all belonged to remote areas of Jammu. He said that this visit would help in broadening their vision about our country. The children also shared experiences of their visit to different historical places and thanked the BSF and the Govt of India for organizing tours of this nature. 
As part of its civic action programme, BSF conducts Bharat Darshan Tour for the children of poor families from the remote and border areas of Jammu & Kashmir. The main purpose of such visit is to expose the children of remote areas to the historical, cultural and technological profile of the country as also the development and progress the country has achieved. BSF is organizing such programmes since 1999. Till date, 1134 children from J & K have participated in the BSF sponsored 35 Bharat Darshan Tours. 
Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde blessed the children and shared his ideas. He advised them to share the beauty of diversified culture of India and to help the country grow in an unified manner and stronger each day.
