New Delhi:(Page3 News Network)-The 49th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Asia Pacific Regions will be held in New Delhi from 8th to 12th October 2012. It will be inaugurated by
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ajit Singh. The theme of the Conference is “Managing Air Transport Growth in the Asia Pacific Region through a Collaborative Approach to Safety, Security and Sustainability.” The Conference has following aims and objectives:
• Review and exchange information on matters of interest in civil aviation
• Enhance co-ordination of civil aviation activities in the Region.
• Allow in-depth deliberations on one or two items of crucial importance to the Region as ‘Theme Topics’
• Review work of Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (APANPIRG).
• Develop specific Action Items that are of common interest and importance to the Region.
• Provide overall guidance, harmonization and co-ordination of implementation of standards and procedures in the Region.
• Follow up by the ICAO Secretariat to coordinate issues of importance in a timely and orderly manner.
54 States/ International Organisations have been invited for the Conference. In all 45 countries / 6 organizations have confirmed their participation with 238 delegates.
The first Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation was held in Manila, Philippines in 1960. The Conference which is held every year is a major civil aviation event in the Asia and Pacific Region. It provides a regional forum for exchange of views among the Directors General/Chief Executives of Civil Aviation in Asia/Pacific Region. India last hosted the DGCA Conference in 1997. Countries/ organizations invited for the Conference are as follows:
