Dehradun:( Page Three News Network ) Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna visited disaster hit areas at Ukhimath in Rudraprayag District and took stock of the loss and relief work on Saturday. He also visited relief camp and interacted with the affected people.
Chief Minister Bahuguna assured the affected people of all possible help from Government's side and said that the Government was with them in the hour of distress. He said that the District Adminsitration had been directed to carryout relief and rescue works on war footing. He also assured them to provide additional Rs. 1 lakh each to the families of deceased persons and similar amount to those whose houses had been devastated. Mr. Bahuguna said that very soon they would be provided relief fund as per the set norms for which Rs. 10 crore has already been sanctioned. He also directed to dispatch additional team of doctors from Medical College Srinagar to Ukhimath and to ensure that there was no shortage of foodgrains and other necessities for affected people.
Chief Minister Bahuguna also visited Srinagar Base Hospital and enquired about the condition of injured persons admitted there. He directed the hospital authority to ensure proper medical treatment to them and if needed refer them to higher centres.
Mr. Bahuguna was accompanied by Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj and Disaster Management Minister Yashpal Arya.
It may be noted that Gram Magroli, Kimada, Sansari, Giriya, Chunni and Brahman Kholi was hit by floodflash after the cloud burst. So far death of 35 persons had been confirmed besides damage to properties.
