The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. R P N Singh arrived in Cambodia to attend the 30th ASEAN Energy Ministers Meeting and the 3rd EAS Energy Ministers Meeting. Minister met the Prime Minister Hun Sen along with senior ministers of ASEAN and other countries. Prime Minister Hun Sen while addressing the gathering on ‘ASEAN Green Connectivity’ especially mentioned about India’s assistance in building power transmission lines in Cambodia. Prime Minister thanked Minister Shri Singh for India’s
assistance in improving the power sector in Cambodia and indicated that ASEAN was keen on developing closer links with India in the overall development of energy sector. The thrust of the meeting was on integrating ASEAN energy markets with its developmental partners through establishment of energy grids by laying high power transmission and gas pipelines.
MOS Shri Singh also met the Energy Ministers of Malaysia, Russia, Brunei, Singapore and Japan on the sidelines of the meeting. Besides India, this meeting is attended by 10 ASEAN countries as well as Ministers from China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
